According to medical experts, stroke is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Based on projections by the World Health Organization (WHO), it is likely to worsen in developing countries over the next two decades. With the current scourge of HIV/AIDS and the battle against other communicable diseases like multi-drug resistant malaria and tuberculosis; Nigeria, the most populous black nation in the world, according to experts, stands to risk the further straining of its resources as a result of the increasing prevalence of stroke and other cardiovascular diseases due to epidemiological transition.
Based on statistics, the current prevalence of stroke in Nigeria is 1.14 per 1000 while the 30-day case fatality rate is as high as 40 per cent. Management of the disease is largely conservative while there is little or no funding for high-quality research. Consequently, medical experts have emphasized that primary prevention is the key to reducing the burden of the stroke in a country with such poor resources but how can stroke be prevented? In a bid to make people understand the preventive measures which can be taken to prevent this deadly condition, Abdulrahmon Osooba, MD/CEO of Stroke Prevention and Care Initiative (SPCI), Nigeria, explains that herbs are integral and very useful in preventing and also combating the condition.
Osooba who stated that he was born into a family that understands the proper use of traditional roots, leaves and herbs for curing all sorts of human ailments, inherited the treatment of different ailments in a traditional way but choose to specialize on few, like stroke. “For over four decades, I have been treating and curing different ailments with roots, leaves and herbs but I decided to modernize my products in a manner that will be appealing to this generation and that birthed SPCI.”
He added that SPCI has been able to invent, using herbs a very potent powder called the stroke prevention powder.
“So far, the testimonies of the potency of the stroke prevention powder and other herb-based products of SPCI are countless and I am intensifying my efforts to expand the production line so that more ailments can be taken care of with herbal products.”
According to experts, a stroke is a medical emergency and strokes happen when blood flow to the brain stops. “Within minutes, the brain cells begin to die. There are two kinds of stroke. The more common kind, called ischemic stroke, is caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain,” experts say.
Osooba explained that the stroke prevention powder, which has been proven effective, is traditionally produced by Stroke Prevention and Care Initiative to prevent stroke or paralysis. “It contains some indigenous substance and is very powerful because the components of which it’s made of are inimical to the ailment.”
Osooba added that ailment has been in existence in Nigeria for decades and is fast becoming very rampant. Hence, the need for aggressive preventive measures. “It is a very wicked and destructive ailment. Some symptoms may include constant headache in one side of the head, inability of the blood to flow in one side of the leg and constant high blood pressure. Stroke prevention powder is very effective in defending the body against the attack of stroke.”
