Strike: FG, ASUU meet again today

Following the seemingly unproductive state of the last negotiation meeting between the Federal Government and leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over the latter’s ongoing one month warning strike, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has slated a new date for continuation of the meeting.

A press statement signed by Deputy Director/Head Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Charles Akpan, and made available to journalists in Abuja over the weekend, stated that the meeting, which hopes to bring an end to the industrial action, shall be held in Abuja on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

“The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, will be meeting with the executive of the Academic Staff Union of Universities and relevant government agencies.

“The meeting is scheduled as follows: Date: Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the Honourable Minister’s Conference Room by 2pm,” the statement read.
