Strengthening democracy

The major attributes of democracy are peaceful understanding, tranquillity and transitioning together harmoniously into prosperity. Governance is expected to do all within the limits of its resources to alleviate human sufferings and put smiles on the faces of citizens. A heart at peace gives life to the body but envy rots the bone. Mockers seek wisdom and find none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning. All cunning manipulations are worthless this time around when and where there is mass scarcity of daily needs through rampant unemployment. Democracy delights in wise servants, but shameful servants wear its wrath. Events have made it known that most of those involved in violence are provoked into such undeserved and unpleasant criminal activities by poverty. Adequate urgent solutions are essential to reduce scarcity that will lessen such crimes, instead of fuelling unpleasantly alarming crisis towards selfish crafty desperations to unworthy relevance. Legislators are nearer to the people than the executives.

The undemocratic performance of the presidency through misuse of power of autonomy distracting or depriving the legislature’s deliberations and responsibilities on sensitive issues are not enough reasons to make them neglect welfare constitutional responsibilities to the electorate.

They must be diligent in these matters, give sincere consideration wholly to them so that everyone can be progressive. Our leaders must persevere in progressivism for the benefit of this and future generations. Our future is only protected and nothing can jeopardize it, if when and where democracy is preferred and practiced efficiently and effectively, towards visible and well felt proves of advantageous evidence.

True democracy often exists in a unit, though it is made up of several parts in form of a symbolic elected head, members of elected legislatives, handpicked executives and advisers, traditional rulers, judiciary, registered political parties, appointed civil servants, religious bodies, civil societies, productive companies, other enterprises, the press etc. with assorted assignments meant to be a useful body, positively in unity to actively compliment a peaceful, healthy, economic, social and spiritual convenience.

Nigerians are expected to wake up from their slumber and take appropriate steps towards ensuring that they strengthen democracy for a better nation.
