As the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) is set to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Chief Executive Officer of the society, Mayor Ayilaran, has said the storm is over for the society.
Over the years, the society had been engulfed in court war raging from copyrights infringements to other offences related to copyright with an attendant effect on the activities of the society, but Ayilaran has assured that the society can now forge ahead.
He said at the next AGM, the society would receive and consider the chairman’s report of events and recent developments, adding that the remodelling of the society being carried out will give its members best of services in the years ahead.
“Holding our AGM this month means that the storm is over for MCSN and our members should expect only the best of services in the years ahead. They should be rest assured that whatever they have lost in the past will be recovered in the years ahead,” he said.
He revealed that the predicaments, which the society went through for 10 years affected copyright administration in Nigeria, taking its toll on the industry and the society at large.
“Before the crisis, the Society had devised a formula that simplified legitimate access to copyright compliance by users and exploiters of musical works. This would have helped in wiping out or at least reducing piracy and other forms of copyright infringements drastically in the country,” he said.
On his part the Chairman of the board of the Society, Orits Williki, called on all members of MCSN to show interest in the day-to-day running of the society in order to keep the management on its toes.
