Stop the pretence

Published by

The attitude of the Northern Nigeria establishment and the Presidency, regarding killings by their kith and kindred; Fulani herdsmen is one of stubborn denial, blame trading and painfully, veiled excuses on why these killings occur in the first place.

Whatever is driving the Northern Nigeria Establishment is a vain sense of “superiority” that has been instilled in its psyche; in truth, if a racial type or a particular ethnic group must lay claim to a sort of superiority then that category of people must be cultured and refined so that they stop wanton scorched-earth extermination and destruction, stop open-air defecation embrace education, keep the home front functioning, and above all stop migration to the lands of the “infidels.” You cannot lay claim to any sort of superior high standing if your people are a bunch of economic migrants, forsaking the lands of their fathers for other peoples’ climes.

The leaders of Northern Nigeria now have their task cut out for them; they must build that Arewa co-prosperity sphere. It does not help Northern Nigerian when a daughter of President Muhamamdu Buhari schooled in London, a daughter of Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar also schooled in London, and a daughter of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi schooled in the U.S; what message are these influential Northerners sending to the people of Arewa who have been told all along that “Koranic education” for girls is the best legacy a father can bequeath on his daughter?
