Stop issuing notices to business owners, residents, Warri Chair warns

THE Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr Michael Tidi, has warned those issuing demand notices to business owners and other residents of Warri to desist forthwith, saying approval hasn’t been given to revenue committees for 2019.

Dr Tidi, in a terse statement released to the media Wednesday evening amid speculation of the activities of unapproved revenue agents, advised residents of Warri to ignore the illegal demand notices, pending when the executive of Warri South Local Government Council will approve new revenue committees for 2019 soonest and subsequently publish same.

He stressed that operations of the 2018 revenue sub-committees have since elapsed in line with the stipulated terms.

It will be recalled that some fake council workers, often in connivance with some staff of the local government had, reportedly, been going about coercing residents and business owners to part with money.

TribuneOnline reports that the development is common ahead of yuletide, Easter celebrations and other major festivities when hoodlums, especially in Agbassa, Ginuwa and environs usually go about to extort money from unsuspecting residents and business owners in the name of the local government.
