Nigerian university students are naturally hoping that the strike will be called off, but the situation right now is unpredictable.
Worse still, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has also embarked on a strike. The question is, where is Nigeria heading to? The education and health sectors are crucial to the survival of the nation.
Education is the foundation of a better tomorrow. It is necessary for Nigerians to be sufficiently educated in order to develop the nation.
But currently, schooling in Nigeria is discouraging. This shouldn’t be the case. How many foreign students are studying in Nigerian universities? But Nigerian students are flocking universities in the neighbouring universities.
Health is the level of functional and metabolic efficiency of a living organism. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), it is the complete state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Health indeed is wealth.
In order to provide a more efficient, functional education and health system, I hereby urge the-Federal Government to attend to the demands of the affected unions and associations with immediate effect.
Its previous efforts are appreciated, but more has to be done. If this is done, Nigerians would be justified in hoping for a better Nigeria.
