Steer clear of all forms of violence, Police DPO tells Iperu-Remo youths

Police Divisional Officer (DPO) in charge of Iperu Remo area of Ogun State, Abolade Oladigbolu has charged the residents of the community to steer clear off all forms of violence.

Oladigbolu who is Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) also told them to be security-conscious while they go about their daily activities.

He said this when executive members of the Iperu Youth Development Association (IpYDA) paid a courtesy to his office.

The DPO noted that the division, on the orders of the Commission of Police, launched an Operation Restore Hope to rid the community of all violent elements. He noted that the operation which started on December 10 will target security challenges in the state including kidnapping, cultism, cybercrime, robbery etc.

He allayed fears in the community that men attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad are out to extort residents especially youths.

While assuring the youth that the division will address allegations raised against the security operatives in the community, Oladigbolu urged them not to resort to jungle justice, saying “it’s a punishable offence,” and that a lot of measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and properties.

“Iperu is my area of responsibility, the security of lives and properties is my utmost priority. If any F-SARS operative enters this community, I would surely advise, encourage them to work diligently, so there is no cause for alarm.

“I was transferred to Iperu station three weeks ago, and I’ve been working diligently towards the provision of maximum security in the community. I have met with a lot of stakeholders in the town and I am even happy meeting the youth body, which to me is one of the key players as far as security of any society is concerned.

“If you notice any act of criminality in your areas kindly call the police distress line on 09039313143. It’s an emergency line which has been linked with our patrol team. We would respond swiftly to your calls,” he assured.

Comrade Olabanjo Eleda who spoke on behalf of the association assured the division of the community’s support and cooperation to engage youth as partners in shaping peace and security processes in the community.
