Steer clear of Delta, police warn IPOB

Published by

THE Nigeria Police, Delta State Command have warned members of the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to steer clear of the state ahead of their Friday planned protest.

Image-maker of the command, Celestina Kalu, a superintendent of police, in a statement on Thursday in Asaba, said the command had gathered intelligence report that members of the outlawed group had planned to go on street protest on Friday.

She said the police was battle ready and had been detailed to ruthlessly deal with members of the group if they did not shelve the idea.

“Intelligence report reaching Delta State Police Command indicates that members of the out lawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) plan to embark on a protest on Friday, September 23, 2016.

“The Command wishes to warn IPOB members to steer clear of Delta State as the state does not subscribe to such an agenda.

“The Delta Police Command and its personnel have been fully briefed on the SOP and rules of engagement and have been deployed and briefed to deal ruthlessly with any person or group of persons who attempts to cause breach of peace for whatever reason,” Kalu warned.

While enjoining Deltans to go about their normal businesses, the police image-maker also advised parents to pull the ears of their children and wards against hobnobbing with miscreants who may want to cause a breach of the fragile peace in the state.

“In the same vein, parents and guardians are advised to warn their children/wards not to join any form of protest while law abiding Deltans and other residents of the state are hereby assured of their safety and advised to go about their legitimate business while exposing  suspicious movement of miscreants,” she noted.
