The conference of State Scout Commissioners of Nigeria has cried out that some elements are parading themselves as leaders of the voluntary association, urging Nigerians not to reckon with them and their activities.
Speaking to newsmen during a peaceful protest at the Oyo State secretariat of the association at Agodi, Ibadan, chairman of the Conference of State Commissioners of Scouts of Nigeria and the Oyo State Scout Commissioner, Dr. Zack Ekanola, on behalf of the association, noted the imposters are moving around states presenting themselves as leaders of the association and that it is against the law guarding the association.
Ekanola further stated that even though the World Organisation of Scout Movement instructed the aggrieved faction not to embark on a planned illegal extraordinary AGM, they still held an AGM in Abuja, contrary to the legal and recognised national AGM that took place in Makurdi, Benue State, previously.
He noted that the association is protesting against the attempted forceful takeover of our association by some imposters led by one Olusoga Sofolahan, who was once one of the leaders of the association six years ago. The person leading the imposters concocted a dubious story against our Chief Commissioner.
“We only recognise our leaders, Honourable Dave Awunah as the board chairman and Engineer Babatunde Oyetayo as the elected Chief Commissioner. Any other person parading himself or herself as a leader is not recognised.
‘’That is why we are coming together to reject their antics and tactics and their impersonation. It is thuggery and rascality taken too far.
‘’This is the first step we are taking. After this, we are taking a big legal action against all the imposters,” he added.
