Stanbic IBTC adopts Ogun school for intervention

In continuation of its social intervention efforts to drive development in the nation’s education sector,
Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc has extended its spread by adopting Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, Ogun State for intervention.

The adoption of the school under the company’s Adopt-A-School initiative has brought the total number of schools so far adopted to six across the country.

Before now, the company had adopted schools in Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Sokoto, Borno, and Gombe states, demonstrating a commitment to diverse geographic representation in their educational support.

Then, with this latest adoption,
Stanbic IBTC has carried out some developmental projects in the 81-year-old Lisabi Senior Grammar School.

These projects include the provision of new computer systems, renovation of science laboratories, and construction of a new vocational centre which houses ICT, Technical Drawing, Art, Cook and Bake, and Sewing Rooms.

It’s expected that no fewer than 3,400 students and 100 staff members will benefit directly from the projects and the state education sector in general.

Speaking about the intervention, the outgoing Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC, Dr Demola Sogunle, stressed the importance of the Adopt-A-School programme in Nigerian public schools, saying the impact of the gesture transcends the beneficiary schools and students.

Demola, in a statement, noted that the company deliberately chose Lisabi Grammar School to be a beneficiary just like the initial five schools so as to create a better learning and working environment for both the students and workers.

He mentioned that the gesture also incorporated human capital development, where teachers would be exposed to the latest training techniques for a period of five to seven years.

He added that this would enable the school workforce to be fully empowered to guide their students rightly for future relevance.

In his remarks, Ogun State’s Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended Stanbic IBTC for this gesture, acknowledging its significant impact on learning outcomes in the state.

He urged the users of the facilities to make good use of them by showing in their performances.
