An indigenous EdTech startup, Edusko has stressed the importance of Africa getting ready for the future world of work, driving the process through review of learning and education system generally on the continent.
The company has set the stage for the purpose through its flagship summit for this year, tagged “ACTIVATED,” where key stakeholders in the education sector and industry players will share knowledge and experiences and demonstrate the way to achieve the goal.
Speaking about the summit, with a theme, “Beyond Classroom,” the Chief Executive Officer of Edusko, Jide Ayegbusi, in a statement, said the summit is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to ushering in a new era of teaching and learning that will adequately prepare the next generation of African leaders for tasks ahead in this 21st century knowledge-driven economy.
He explained that the summit which was formerly known as the Business of Education Summit has become a big forum for leaders in education sectors, school administrators, policymakers, teachers, parents, and other industry players across Africa.
He said over the last seven years, the summit has left an indelible mark, impacting more than 5 million students directly and indirectly and hosting more than 20,000 attendees.
He noted that over 5,000 participants are expected at this year’s summit which has been scheduled for between November 1st and 2nd in Lagos. .
He mentioned that participants should expect insightful discussions and also have opportunity to network with key stakeholders, and showcase futuristic educational technologies and services.
Highlight of the event is a special panel session for top African celebrities and influencers to discuss how they could be harbingers of change in our education system and help prepare the next generation of African children for the demand of the future workforce.
According to him, there is also going to be a plenary for teenagers to dissect their expectations from the older generation including parents, schools and perspective shapers – as they prepare for the future workforce.
Ayegbusi listed lead speakers at the event to include the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Prof Abiodun Adebayo; Chairperson of Sanctum Startup College, Prof Abiola Awosika; Managing Director of CcHUB, Ojoma Ochai; CEO of EDUTAMS, Dr. Ademola Adenubi; Director of Schools, Chrisland Schools. Mrs. Ayoola Akinyeye and CEO of ShopEx TV, Olajumoke Abiodun,.
Others, according to him, are Genoveva Umeh, Nigerian-British Actor; Idia Aisien, Actor and Media Entrepreneur; Pere Egbi, Actor, Model and Reality TV Star; Dayo Israel, Youth Leader; Sulaiman Adebayo, and Ahmed Alaga, who is the Head of Partnerships – Africa, Jobberman, and so forth.
He said even though registration for attendance is free, participants would have to register ahead online using a dedicated address given as edusko.com/activated to do so.
