SSANU, NASU strike won’t disrupt UNICAL’s 36th convocation — VC

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Banku Obi, has assured that the nationwide strike by members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) will not disrupt the 36th convocation of the institution.

The VC stated that about 8,415 students will be graduating at its 36th convocation, noting that over 32 of them will be conferred with First Class degrees, while 438 others will be conferred with PhDs.

Obi disclosed this at a news conference to announce activities lined up for the ceremony on Monday, in Calabar.

The VC said her administration had instituted staff meritorious awards last year, and this year 143 staff members were honored with the awards, stressing that the purpose of the awards was to motivate them for more productivity.
