Spread your tentacles to LGAs to be more effective, Consumer Rights advocate charges FCCPC

Published by

CONSUMER rights advocate, and Founder, Absolute PR, Akonte  Ekine has called on the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to extend its operations to local government councils, across  Nigeria, to enable citizens feel the impacts of such activities.

Ekine made the call in his Keynote Address delivered at the Consumers’ Experience Summit/Awards 2024 held in Lagos.

The Convener of the annual  ‘Consumers Value Awards’, while speaking on the theme: ‘Empowering Consumers: Shaping the Future  Experience’, argued that for relevant agencies and consumer rights advocate groups to make the required impact, efforts must be made to reach out to the grassroots.

While calling for a national campaign on consumer rights, Ekine also reiterated the need for companies to have independent feedback departments, that would attend to consumers’ queries, on a daily basis.

Earlier in his address, the Convener of the summit, Godwin Anyebe, described the maiden edition as an opportunity to gather thought leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from various sectors of the economy,  to explore and redefine consumer journey,  and deliver experiences that truly empower individuals.

“As consumer preferences evolve at an unprecedented pace, our theme underscores the critical need to adapt, innovate, and place consumers at the heart of every strategy and decision,” he added.
