A   housewife,Teju Oluwadamisi, has pleaded with an Igando Customary Court in Lagos State, to end her 17- year-old marriage to her husband who she claims is abusive.

Oluwadamisi told the court that her husband, Olusola has refused to discharge his responsibility as a father.

“We have been married for 17 years and we are blessed with five children.

“When my eldest son wanted to write his WAEC, my husband refused to pay his fees. He insisted that he should go and learn iron welding.

“I tried all I could to get the money and he wrote the examination and made all his papers. My husband still refused to pay for his JAMB and post UME. The time elapsed and sadly my son had to halt his education because of lack of funds.

“I want this court to end this marriage because I can’t continue to live with a man that doesn’t have our interest at heart.

“I would also like to mention that he spends all his money on women and alcohol.

“I want custody of my children. I want to relocate to Oshogbo where my father left a property for me,” she said.

The respondent was however not present in court. The case, was therefore, adjourned till March 21.
