Sowore, Bakare yet to meet bail conditions

Despite an order of the Federal High Court in Abuja granting them bail, the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, are yet to perfect their bail conditions.
Tribune Online recalls that the Sowore and Bakare were charged with a seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu granted them N150 million bail on October 4, 2019, the condition which their lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), described as stringent.
Tribune Online, however, learnt on Friday that both men were still in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) where they are being held.
Falana told newsmen the defence team would meet before Monday to decide on actions to take over the bail conditions as granted by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.
Falana said: ‘‘We will meet this weekend on the issue of bail conditions. No decision has been taken on whether to appeal or approach the judge on the matter.”
Tribune Online also recalls that Justice Ojukwu had, while granting them bail, barred them from participating in any form of protest pending the conclusion of their trial.
The judge, who granted Sowore bail at N100 million and two sureties in the same amount, barred him from travelling out of Abuja.
The judge also ordered Sowore to deposit N50m in the account of the court as security.
She granted Bakare bail at N50m with a surety in the same amount and barred him from travelling out of his base in Osogbo, except while coming for the trial in Abuja.
The judge added that the sureties, who must be residents in Abuja, must also have landed assets worth the bail sum in Abuja and should deposit the original title documents of the assets with the court.
Justice Ojukwu also ordered that the defendants be remanded in the custody of the DSS pending when they are able to perfect the bail conditions.
