The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest has commended what it described as remarkable development and transformation being witnessed in Oyo State over the past five years under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The opposition party in a statement by the zonal publicity secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati on Thursday said that the commissioning of the 76.67-kilometre Iseyi-Fapote-Ogbomoso Alao Akala expressway, among other completed 156KM roads in the last one year into his second term in office were a testament of the commitment of the PDP government to the welfare of the people.
The PDP spokesperson highlighted that Oyo State, renowned as the pacesetter, has made significant strides in various sectors during Governor Makinde’s tenure.
The party said, “the state has experienced substantial growth across all areas, with projects that directly contribute to economic development and improve the quality of life for its residents in sectors such as agriculture, education, health, and others.
“ Governor Makinde’s intentional governance approach in Oyo State has been instrumental in driving this progress.

“ We acknowledge Governor Makinde’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability in governance. The administration’s commitment to good governance practices has earned commendation from various stakeholders, including civil society organizations and international partners.
“By prioritizing transparency, Governor Makinde has set a positive example for other states in the region to follow.”
The Southwest PDP identified Governor Makinde’s focus on human capital development through initiatives such as skills acquisition programs, youth empowerment schemes, and investments in healthcare infrastructure.
“These efforts have not only empowered the state’s residents but have also positioned Oyo State as a hub for talent and innovation.
“The party commends Governor Makinde for his holistic approach to development, which considers the well-being and potential of every individual in the state,” the party said.
