Southern Kaduna: We are there to restore peace —Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has said that the Army was in southern Kaduna to restore peace.

The Army Chief made this known when he visited the Chief of Kagoro, Ufuwai Bonet and the Emir of Jema’a, Alhaji Muhammad Isah, at  their  palaces  on Saturday.

Buratai remarked that he was in southern Kaduna to meet with his officers and men who had been deployed to the area to ensure peace.

While the Chief of Kagoro, thanked the military for their presence, the Emir of Jema’a, commended  President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming it fit to approve the setting up  of a military barracks in the area, noting that such move would improve the security situation.

“Anywhere my troops are sent to maintain peace, it is part of my schedule to visit them and to see how they are carrying out their statutory functions, in line with rules of engagement.

“The present crisis is coming to an end. Now, we have restored normalcy in the troubled areas. People have started coming back to their homes. I was in Ninte this morning. I saw the farmers  and the Fulani. I spoke  with on the need to live in peace with one another.

‘You can’t separate the farmers and the herdsmen. They have a long history of co-existence. So, they must live together . The better they live together  the better for them and everyone.

In their separate remarks ,the Chief of Kagoro ,Ufuwai Bonet thanked the military for their presence, saying, though the  incessant attacks and killings are gradually  easing there are occasional attacks going on by the hoodlums.

‘But I equally want to say that the criminals carrying out these attacks are not our fulani .We have been living with our fulani peaceful we know them . But I told the governor these Fulani that came to terrorize ut if they are from Mali,  how did they find their way into our towns and villages and who armed them.

While, the Emir of Jema’a, Alh Muhammad Isah commended  President Buhari who deeming it fit to approved the set up a military barrack in the area, saying such a move will improve the security situation in the area.
