Southern Kaduna group offers 40 free medical surgeries to less privileged

As part of its efforts to transform its community in terms of providing its citizens with education and social amenities, the Bajju Professional Careers (BPC) group sponsored 40 surgeries free of charge for some less privileged and vulnerable members in the Zango Kataf local government area of Kaduna State.

This was contained in a statement issued by Dr. Madaki David Sheyin, President of BPC, on Tuesday, which was made available to newsmen in Kaduna at the end of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Zonkwa.

During the event, the statement noted that a 3-day free medical outreach held at Rural Hospital Zonkwa provided free medical services, including over 40 surgeries, by health professionals.

The theme for this year’s AGM was “Building a Brighter Future Together in Kajju,” where the guest speaker for this year’s event, Professor Istifanus Bala Bosan, a Professor of Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, challenged the men and women in Kajju to think about and plan a brighter future for themselves and future generations.

The speaker also encouraged the sons and daughters in Kajju to have dreams of the future they want to see.

While delivering his welcome address, the Chairman of the AGM Planning Committee, Mr. Zechariah Suleiman, remarked that since the group’s establishment in 2020 by Dr. Ibrahim Didamson, it has made progress.

He said, “As sons and daughters of Bajju scattered all over the globe, we want to say that with your support, in no distant future, the impact of the group will be felt all over the LGA.”

The BPC President, Dr. Sheyin D. Madaki, in his speech, called on all Bajju professionals across the globe to unite and join forces to make positive impacts within their communities through developments in agriculture, education, health, engineering, and technology.

He stated that the era of always expecting the government to do everything for us has passed. Instead, as professionals, we have a role to play by ensuring we contribute our quota to the development of our communities in various ways.

The Senator for Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, charged the BPC and BADA to show love in deeds and actions, not merely by paying lip service.

He emphasised that only as a united people can meaningful development be achieved. In doing so, “we must eschew bitterness, hatred, and greed.”

The Senator’s wife, Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung, who is the Lord Mayor of Leeds, in her address, recalled with nostalgia the contributions and impact of the Bajju people in uniting Southern Kaduna when she was growing up. However, as she grew older, divisions among the people emerged, which became a setback to progress and development. She stated that they are stronger together as one united people.

The Chairman of Zangon Kataf LGA, Engr. Joseph Bege Gaiya, commended the BPC for sustaining such a laudable initiative and for planning to make a maximum impact in their communities.

He encouraged unity among the people and called on BPC to key into the efforts of his administration to bring peace and unity among all people in the LGA.
