The Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, in charge of security in Plateau State,  in conjunction with One Division of the Nigerian Army, has embarked on a joint patrol of border areas between Kaduna and Plateau states to prevent  spill of attack into the neighbouring communities not affected by the crisis in southern Kaduna.

Commander of the Special Task Force, Major General Rogers Nicholas, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the joint patrol would give confidence to the people of the affected communities that security men were on ground to nip an unforeseen situation in the bud.

The Special Task Force, with the mandate to maintain law and order  in Plateau and some parts of Bauchi State in collaboration with Operation Yaki of One Division of the Nigerian Army is operating joint patrol in the affected areas towards peace building in the communities.

According to him, the cross-border patrol became necessary to ward off any further unforeseen situation and assured them of adequate security and charged them to always report any suspicious movement to the security agents on ground.

“Security operatives are taking preventive measures in ensuring that the attacks in Southern Kaduna which have resulted in loss of many lives and destruction of properties do not spread across states and communities sharing border with the affected communities.

“We are from the Special Task Force in Plateau State, troops of one of the division of the Nigerian Army are already deployed here. We cross over to Kaduna State primarily to support so that such attacks do not happen again. More soldiers are to be deployed into the affected areas. We also discussed with members of the communities so that we can come up with strategies on constant security,” he said.

The Tum Nikyob of Banki Kogi, Mallam Tanke Tete, assured the soldiers of support and adequate cooperation in the course of their duty and demanded for more presence of military men.
