South-West SDP leaders support Agunloye’s suspension, pass vote of no confidence on him

South-West leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have shown support for the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Dr Olu Agunloye, by his ward in Ondo North Local Government and passed a vote of no confidence on him.

The party leaders stated that allegations of his involvement in anti-party activities and disregard for the party’s constitution remain unacceptable and make his suspension justifiable.

Speaking on behalf of the South-West leaders, the chairman, Mr Femi Olaniyi described Agunloye as an enemy of the party, who is only interested in his personal gains, adding that he has deliberately frustrated the growth of SDP in Ondo State, such that the membership strength has been reduced.

The South-West leadership added that the emergence of Agunloye as the party’s secretary is unacceptable by South-West members of the party, adding that the party leaders, therefore, appealed to the national leadership of the party to give it a week’s grace, to put down a suitable candidate for the national scribe of the party.

The leaders further hailed the endorsement of Alh. Sheu Musa, as the Ag. National Chairman of the party, pending the forthcoming congress of the party while

Also speaking, Dr Sola Agboola, a party stalwart from Ondo State, described Agunloye as a political fraudster, who has been suspended for a long time in Ondo State, where he hails from, adding that Dr Agunloye’s suspension was based on a letter from his ward (Ward 10) that recommended his suspension from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

“The Social Democratic Party, SDP, South-West caucus is very law-abiding and we are not in support of anyone usurping authority,” he said, emphasising that Agunloye is fond of using divide and rule style with his position,

In another development, the party also mourned the demise of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, describing him as an enterprising and fearless man.

The party noted that the late Alaafin in his lifetime was committed to the promotion of the rich Yoruba culture and traditions.

At the meeting were Engr. Adewole Adesina- National Leader, SDP, Dr. Sola Agboola-Ondo State, Chief Curtis- Chairman Emeritus, Oyo State, Hon. Kola Balogun among others.
