South-South group seeks reinstatement of Rivers NSCDC Commandant

The South South Youths Initiative (SSYI) has appealed to the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Audi Ahmed, to reinstate the redeployed Rivers State Commandant, Basil Igwebueze.

In a press statement, the National President of SSYI, Comrade Imeabe Saviour Oscar, praised Igwebueze’s professionalism and diligence during his service in Rivers State, noting that he had no indictments against him.

Oscar highlighted Igwebueze’s achievements, including the busting of illegal bunkering sites, which increased revenue for the federal government.

He expressed disappointment at the redeployment, stating that Igwebueze’s services were needed in Rivers State to consolidate on his good works.

The group commended CG Audi for his reforms in the corps but appealed for Igwebueze’s reinstatement, citing his excellent services to the people of Rivers State and the South South region.

“It should be on record that one of the criteria for appointing heads of security agencies is professionalism.

“We are very much happy that the current State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State Command, Mr Basil Igwebueze has displayed professionalism and diligence to his duties.

“He has been very instrumental to the peace we enjoy in Rivers State and in securing of critical government assets as under him several illegal bunkering sites have been burst and thereby increasing the revenue accruing to the federation account.

“He has been doing well in coordinating his men and we are happy that we have such a person heading a security architecture in Rivers State considering the fact that the state houses many critical Federal Government assets,” Oscar said.

They passed a vote of confidence in Igwebueze and urged the CG to listen to their appeal.
