South Korean actress, Kim Sae-ron, found dead at home

South Korean actress, Kim Sae-ron has been found dead at her home in Seoul, police have confirmed.

The 24-year-old was discovered by a friend in her residence in the city’s Seongsu-dong district at approximately 16:55 (07:55 GMT) on Sunday.

Authorities stated that there were no signs of foul play, and investigations into the cause of death are ongoing.

Kim, who began her career as a child actor, was regarded as one of South Korea’s most promising young talents. Born in Seoul in 2000, she gained recognition with her role in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which led to an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.

She later starred in The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing film of that year, and earned critical acclaim for her performance in the 2012 thriller The Neighbour.

Her career continued with notable roles, including the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 television series Mirror of the Witch.

However, she largely withdrew from the public eye in 2022 following a drink-driving incident, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023.

Kim’s final role was in Netflix’s 2023 Korean drama Bloodhounds, though Variety reported that much of her screen time was removed due to the controversy surrounding her earlier legal issues.
