South-East youths won’t be part of nationwide protest — Group

The Director General of Shared Prosperity Movement Worldwide, Eric Uwakwe has declared that the entire South Eastern youths will not be part of the proposed nationwide protest.

Uwakwe said this in Owerri on Saturday that instead of protesting, the entire youths in the region are rather commending Tinubu for the successes he had recorded in just one year in office.

Uwakwe who is also the African youth ambassador of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, said that it is not enough to judge the president with his activities in just a year.

He said: “Igbo youths are excited with president Tinubu for assenting into law the South East Development Commission bill.”

Uwakwe said that with the establishment of the commission, it is expected that the infrastructural deficits in the region would be fixed, swiftly.

He said ” this is to announce to the entire world that the South East youths are not part of the planned national protest against the administration of president Ahmed Tinubu.

“Instead of protesting, we are rather commending president Ahmed Tinubu for the modest achievements he has recorded in just a year in office. We are confident that he will fix Nigeria for the best.

He described President Tinubu as a compassionate Nigerian and African leader who is working towards making Nigeria and Africa greater insisting that the South East youths are happy with the things he has achieved in just one year in office.

He said: “We won’t be part of the proposed nationwide protest. The things we want in South East are fixing of our decayed infrastructural assets and facilities. Appointing South East youths in national positions in Nigeria. Giving our region its due in the politics of our dear country”.

The group insisted that they will not hit the streets against Mr president’s administration rather, they we will plan for a solidarity march to commend him for being a great leader.

The leader of the group maintained that for Mr. President to assent into law, the South East Development Commission bill, it is great and we believe that the commission will tackle all issues of injustices and agitations against the South East region.

He also commended governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state for rallying political actors together in fighting the problems of insecurity in the South East region.
