South-East govs not putting enough efforts to secure Nnamdi Kanu’s release — Family

The family of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has criticised South East governors for not making sufficient efforts to secure his release.

Speaking in Umuahia on Friday during a memorial for their late parents, HRM Eze Israel and Ugoeze Sally Kanu, Prince Emmanuel Kanu expressed disappointment over what he described as the governors’ lack of concrete action.

He accused them of failing to show genuine commitment, questioning why they had yet to meet the conditions reportedly set by President Bola Tinubu for Kanu’s release.

He said, “South East governors are not doing enough to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It’s either they are complicit or something else.”

He challenged the governors to engage directly with the President, suggesting that their continued inaction cast doubt on their sincerity.

“The big question is: Why have they not met with Mr. President on Nnamdi Kanu? Information available to us is that Mr. President asked them to fulfill certain conditions,” he stated.

The memorial event drew prominent Biafra elders and supporters, who reiterated calls for Kanu’s unconditional release.
