STANDARDS Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has been awarded accreditation by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) for four globally-recognised Management System Standards.

The accreditation, which goes to SON department of Management System Certification (MSC), is in view of Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001:2015, Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) ISO 45001:2018, Environmental Management System (EMS) ISO 14001:2015 and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) ISO 22000:2018.

According to a statement by SON’s media unit, the accomplishment follows a rigorous assessment process conducted by IAS, verifying that the Organization MSC department’s operations and audits, which are conducted by SON auditors, comprehensively meet the stringent requirements of the international standards.

“The accreditation signifies the department’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional quality in all its services, upholding the highest standards in occupational health and safety, minimising environmental impact through responsible practices, ensuring food safety and quality across the supply chain and adhering to industry-leading benchmarks in the aerospace, defense and transportation sectors,” it said.

Acting Director, SON MSC department, Obiageli P. Egbuchiem, said this accreditation is a badge of honour for the SON MSC department and a global recognition to SON.

Egbuchiem said, “This accreditation does not only recognise the efforts of the SON MSC department but also underscores the proficiency and expertise of SON auditors, whose meticulous evaluations played a significant role in achieving this milestone.

“Their dedication to upholding industry standards and conducting thorough audits has been instrumental in ensuring the department’s adherence to best practices.

“It is a direct reflection of our team’s relentless pursuit of excellence and unwavering commitment to international best practices. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and it serves as a catalyst for further advancements in our journey towards continuous improvement.

“Moving forward, the SON MSC department remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding these internationally recognized standards and is determined to ensure continual improvement in service delivery by enhancing its competences and professionalism towards ensuring customer satisfaction.

“This prestigious accreditation solidifies SON’s position as a leading authority in standardisation and quality assurance, not only in Nigeria but also on the global stage. It instills trust and confidence in stakeholders, assuring them that the organisation and its certified partners consistently deliver products and services in line with the requirements of its specific standard.”
