Sokoto to be Polio free soon ― Deputy Governor

The Sokoto State Deputy Governor Hon Maniru Muhammad Dan’iya also Chairman Sokoto State taskforce on polio eradication and routine immunization has vowed to do everything possible to get Sokoto State free from any Polio victims before last quarter of 2019.
The Deputy Governor, made the promise when flagging off the 2019 first phase of polio immunization exercise in Illela Local Government of Sokoto State.
According to a statement signed by the  Director of the press, office of the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar and released to Journalists in the state.
He reassured that being his first official engagements after 2019 elections and subsequently taking over the Chairmanship of Sokoto State Task Force on Polio Eradication and Routine Immunization in Sokoto.
According to him, “I will make it personal project to see that Sokoto is delisted among States in Nigeria that still has remnants of Polio victims among children.
On those parents who still have the believes that the Polio vaccination endangers their family, the Deputy Governor drop 3 drops of Polio vaccine to his mouth and also do same to Commissioner of Health Dr Ali Inname to prove to the populace that polio vaccines are safe and free from harming anyone.
He called on the traditional and religious leaders in Sokoto to rally round Sokoto state government, in eradicating the menace of Polio as even the Sultan of Sokoto is in full support of the project.
Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner of Health Sokoto State Dr Ali Inname, told the gathering that the first Phase of Polio Immunization of 2019 is a unique one.
He said Sokoto so far reach 52% in the efforts to eliminate Polio and with continuous help from families, traditional institutions and the society,  Sokoto will soon be delisted, as Sokoto State Government has already paid all its counter-funding to donor agencies and international organisations who partake in Polio eradication in Nigeria.
Not less than 10 Children were later administered with Polio vaccinations by the State Deputy Governor Hon Maniru Muhammad Dan’iya, The Commissioner of Health Dr Ali Inname, District Head of Illela Sarkin Rafin illela Alh. Muhammad Tukur Abdulrahman to flag off the 2019 First Phase of Polio Immunization in Sokoto State.
