Sokoto L-PRES reviews manual for enhanced livestock productivity

As part of efforts to align with the three prioritized value chains in Sokoto State, the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has conducted a comprehensive review of its extension manual to boost livestock production.

The targeted value chains include Cattle, Poultry, as well as Sheep and Goats.

The manual review is being undertaken across all participating states, tailored to their respective value chains.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, highlighted that L-PRES meticulously considers the unique needs of each project, ensuring a robust review process to achieve its goals.

He disclosed that experts from academia were engaged in the exercise, working alongside officials from the Ministry of Animal Health and Fisheries Development as well as that the Sokoto Agricultural Development Project (SADP).

Abubakar noted that SADP plays a critical role in training extension workers who directly support L-PRES initiatives across the state.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Animal Health and Fisheries Development, Abubakar Mohamed Yabo, described the review as timely, given the ongoing implementation of L-PRES activities in Sokoto.

He urged participants to provide constructive input and ensure the document is both practical and comprehensive, which he said will address the needs of L-PRES and its staff effectively.

The review process included contributions from a range of stakeholders and was led by experts such as Prof. Ango Adamu Kamba, Dr. Bello Muhammad Rabah, (represented by Shehu Muhammad Rabah), and Prof. S.A. Maigandi from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
