Sokoto govt welcomes collaboration for peace promotion

The Sokoto State government has called on a coalition of civil societies and other interested groups in the state of continuous collaboration in order to promote peace in its readiness.

The permanent secretary of the State Ministry of Information, Ibrahim Mohammed, stated this on Friday during a two-day State2State activity in the state.

The workshop, which was supported by USAID Nigeria State Accountability Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity with the theme State2State Quarterly Conflict Mitigation and Prevention Dialogue in Sokoto State,”

The Permanent Secretary, in his address, said the current administration in the state is working assiduously to ensure that peace is promoted among all the populace.

He called on journalists, especially social media users and bloggers, to always put the interest of the state at heart before posting anything that can affect the peace of the state.

The Permanent Secretary, however, commended State2State for its contribution to the state, which he said their programme contributes more to good governance in the state.

He assured that the state will ensure the sustainability of all the programmes initiated by State2State in the state.

Also speaking in his remarks, the District Head of the Gagi community in Sokoto, Alhaji Sani Jabi, said no society can progress without peace.

He assured that he will always be within his capacity as the district head to ensure residents of the state, irrespective of their religion or ethnic background.

Meanwhile, participants at the two-day workshop have called on the parents to always give their children, especially girls, the opportunity to attain education to the level of their choice.
