Sokoto Gov assures corps members of adequate security

The governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmed Aliyu, has assured corps members posted to the state of adequate security throughout their service year.
The governor stated this on Friday at the Wamakko permanent orientation camp of the NYSC during the swearing-in of 2023 batch ‘B’ stream 1.
“Let me reiterate the commitment of our administration to accord priority to the security of corps members posted to the state,” he stated.
He explained that his government would continue to leverage the resources of the state to give maximum support to the programmes of the NYSC scheme in the state and the nation at large.
However, he enjoined Corps members in the state to imbibe the spirit of discipline and tolerance to enable them to participate in all camp activities, forming a solid foundation for the service year.
He urged them to uphold the objective of NYSC, which includes integrity, patriotism, promoting unity,  discipline, selflessness, reliability, and team spirit at all times.
Aliyu stated that as part of his administration’s effort to empower the teeming youth in the state, the state government would partner NYSC skills acquisition and Entrepreneurship development programme, (SAED) for self-reliance.
The Governor further enjoined the Corps Members to be good ambassadors of their communities and of the scheme.
The Governor donated four thousand nairas (N4000) to each corp member participating in the orientation exercise in the state.
Earlier, the NYSC coordinator in the state,  Mr Usman Yakubu Yaro (YY)  congratulated the Governor on his electoral victory.
He thanked the Governor for donating four thousand nairas to each corp member in the camp, saying the gesture would go a long way in ameliorating the plight of the corps members.
The coordinator implored the corps members to be disciplined and diligent, stressing that camp activities are regimentals.
He enjoined them to participate in all camp activities saying misconduct and truancy will not be tolerated.
The coordinator thanked the military, paramilitaries, Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and other stakeholders in the state for their unflinching support of the scheme.
The chief judge of Sokoto State, Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa, represented by Justice Abubakar Abubakar Zaki, administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members.
