Sokoto: APC accuses INEC, security agents of working for PDP

THE opposition party in Sokoto State, All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused both the security agencies and the electoral body of working in the interest of the PDP in the State.

In a statement signed by the coordinator of the presidential support committee of the APC in the State,  Abdulkadir Waziri, the party accused the security agencies in the State as well as the INEC officials of colluding with PDP to defraud APC in the state.

According to him, ” Supporters of the PDP were put to the line first before the APC supporters and this was aided by the security agents.

” In rural areas, there was no presence of security agents at the polling centres, openly the elections officials allow the election to go the way of PDP.

” Under the watch of security agents drawn to the polling centres, ballot boxes were snatched, destroyed, leading to the cancellation of elections in those centres.

” During the last Gubernatorial and house of assembly names different from those that were seen on the INEC manifest during the previous elections were sorted and despite protest to the inclusion of strange names of the officials of INEC and security agents were headless,” he explained.

The party also accused INEC of changing results sheets saying, ” Elections result sheets were changed in between the journey from polling centres to the collation centres, as the process of conveying the results is handled by the Government.”

It further called on the federal government to be sensitive to the implications of the consequences that, calling for the security arrangements in the affected polling units should be utmost attention.

Meanwhile, INEC has released the affected polling units where rerun elections are taking place in the State, with Kebbe local government having the highest number of registered voters at 20,015 in 35 polling units.

This is followed closely by Gada local government with a total number of registered voters of 13,314, which also spread across 29 different polling units.

The statement further revealed that Tangaza is the only local government area where there is no rerun of elections while Isa Local government has the least with 251 registered voters in one polling units.
