The long-standing leadership crisis within the youth wing of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has finally been resolved with the swearing-in of a new executive committee.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the SOKAPU headquarters in Kaduna on Monday, the National President of SOKAPU, Comrade Samuel Tabara, expressed his joy over the resolution of the leadership impasse.
“Today, I am the happiest person because the crisis that plagued the SOKAPU youth wing for several months has finally come to an end,” Tabara stated.

Others were Elisha Samuel, Treasurer; Isah Anjadick Emmanuel, Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) and Dabo Gabriel ,Financial Secretary.
Addressing the newly inaugurated leadership, Comrade Tabara urged them to familiarize themselves with the SOKAPU constitution.
“Take your time to study and understand the constitution so you can operate within the boundaries of your authority. Everything you do must align with the provisions of the constitution, which serves as the foundation of our service to the people,” he emphasised.
He further cautioned the executives against bypassing the established leadership structure, warning them against direct engagements with the Board of Trustees (BoT).
“Any form of engagement between the Youth Wing and the BoT without approval from the President and Central Executive Committee (CEC) is a serious constitutional breach that could lead to disorder and lawlessness,” Tabara warned.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in National Coordinator, Comrade Solomon Simon, expressed gratitude to the National President for ensuring the smooth transition.
“He has proven to be a true comrade. I feel fortunate to be part of this leadership at a time when SOKAPU is making remarkable progress. Sir, we will support your administration so that we all succeed together. On behalf of my team, we pledge our loyalty to your leadership,” Simon assured.
The crisis within the SOKAPU Youth Wing dates back to 2022 and led to the establishment of a Caretaker Committee in 2024. The committee, chaired by Comrade Joseph John Auta, was tasked with organizing fresh elections. However, due to various challenges, the process faced delays.
With the successful conclusion of the elections and the signing of a communique by all stakeholders, the disputes among the contending factions have now been amicably resolved in the best interest of SOKAPU and the Southern Kaduna people.
