Slaying effortlessly the Michelle Obama way

As the First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, prepares to exit the White House in a matter of days, to say that she has been an inspiration on many fronts would be stating the obvious, her style inclusive.

Speaking with fashion publication, InStyle on the important role fashion plays in her life as a political figure, she said: “It goes hand in hand for anyone who’s in the public sphere. Your first interaction with people is what they see. So, you can’t take it for granted. When you’re travelling in a country, the colours you wear, the cut of a dress, the hem length, whether your shoulders are showing – those are all important statements of respect and appreciation and understanding of a culture. But, it’s also just as important for the wearer to be comfortable, and that has always been what drives my choices – do I feel good in this? I don’t really care what the trend is.”

Also speaking on if trends reflect her taste, Michelle noted that “I tend not to worry about the trends, because what works for an 18-year-old selfie queen may not for a 52-year-old First Lady, who is a mom of teenagers she is trying to be a good role model for.”

Vital tips for fashionistas

It wouldn’t be out of place to state that Michelle Obama, in the fashion world, rocks a unique style. Makeover highlights important tips on how respectable ladies can look fashionable, borrowing a leaf from Michelle’s style:
Less is more

Unlike what obtains as what may seem to be the norm, Michelle Obama has proved, beyond words, that a lady doesn’t have to expose her privates before she can look fashionable. There are so many styles to choose from that do not necessarily require exposing cleavage or have to ride high up the legs before you have rocked the fashion world. Indeed, less is more.
Loud could be drab

For many makeup enthusiasts, the need to apply bold makeup, especially for red carpet events, may seem like the norm, but Michelle Obama has reflected time and time again that natural makeup is just as classy, whatever the event. Apart from the occasional pink lip gloss or light application of lipstick, eye makeup, and a few other touches, she rarely goes for loud colours. Ladies have to know the difference between makeup application for magazine photoshoots or runways, and makeup application for other events.
Statement necklaces

A woman’s neckline can be flattering, depending on the right pairing of outfits with accessories. Once in a while, try to rock a statement neckpiece. They are not only alluring for the female figure, they also show that you have a sense of class.
The power of a smile

There is nothing that makes a woman more beautiful than a sincere smile. A smile has the powerful effect of lighting up the face and giving the makeup a more enthralling outlook. No matter how terrible you feel or the situation that tends to weigh you down, never underestimate the power of a smile. It works wonders for ladies every time.
