The Kaduna State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mohammed Sani Abdullahi, has explained that the Southern Kaduna crisis was hampering construction works in the area.
The commissioner, who wept uncontrollably, later remarked that he hoped that the crisis would end so that the government would continue to execute developmental projects that would have direct impact on the people of the area.
“Initially, when the contractors complained to me that they cannot move to site because of insecurity in southern Kaduna, I threatened that I would revoke the contracts if they failed to deliver within certain periods, but I later understood with them when I saw the reality of killings on ground.
“It is unfortunate that contractors cannot continue work in the area because when you see some dilapidated schools, you will not believe that they are for human beings; you will weep. And now contractors cannot move to site to work on such schools,” he said.
On the performance of the 2016 budget, Abdullahi disclosed that the state government had succeeded in wiping out recession in the state.
He explained that with a lot of ongoing capital projects in the state, the economic status of the state had positively improved to better the welfare of the people.
