Six mistakes women should avoid during their periods

A lot of women don’t know how to properly care for themselves during their menstrual period. Mood changes, cramps, pains, aches, and craziness are all symptoms of a period. Anything you do during this period can affect your health.

Engaging in healthy habits that will make you feel good during your period is a good thing. A lot of women are unclear on what to avoid while having a monthly period. In this article, we will be sharing mistakes women should avoid during their period.

1. Delay in changing sanitary pads

Doctors recommend that women change their sanitary pads every three to four hours because changing their sanitary pads so often is beneficial for their health.

By not allowing your pad to stay for more than four hours, you are avoiding bad odour and bacterial growth which can be harmful to your health.

2. Skipping meals

You are likely to skip your meals during this period because you may experience a bloated stomach. Skipping meals can cause pain in the abdominal muscles, which can make you feel weak.

Try not to skip any of your meals during this period. Also, make sure to add light and nutritious meals to your diet to keep yourself fueled.

3. Changes in blood color

One of the mistakes women make during their period is not paying attention to changes in blood colour. The colour of blood typically changes throughout the monthly menstrual cycle in ladies and women. The color of your blood reveals a lot about your overall health. There are different colors of the period including brown, pink, dark red, red, and black. You must make sure you know which color is harmful.

Make sure to see your doctor when you notice changes.

4. Pain killers

Most women take painkillers to overcome pain as they can’t bear those cramps. These painkillers are not good for overall health.

Using a hot water bottle or heating pad soothes your stomach cramps because many researchers have said that heat helps quell your reaching uterus.

5. Shaving or waxing

Removing your pubic hair while on your period is another mistake women make during their period. During your period, the area is delicate, so pulling the wax strips can hurt.

Shaving can be an incredibly messy process if it causes you to cut yourself, and the infection that results could be serious. Scheduling shaving a week after your period will lower the likelihood of discomfort and pain.

6. Unsafe sexual behavior

It is not harmful to engage in sexual activity while on your period, but there is a chance you could get an STD. It is advisable to be aware of your spouse’s clinical and health situation. If you don’t know anything about it, you must avoid engaging in unprotected intimacy with him or her because not having unprotected intimacy could lead to an increase in a yeast infection or developing bacteria.

By taking these simple measures, you can avoid aggravating your period symptoms.
