Six die, 15 injured in Sokoto accident on Sunday

A lone accident involving a white Mitsubishi canter vehicle with reg no JEG 664 XA, occurred along Sokoto-Birnin Kebbi road has claimed not less than six lives.

This was made public in a release signed by the sector commander of Federal Road Safety Service Corps (FRSC), CC Mohammad Kaugama Kabo, and released to journalists in Sokoto.

According to the statement: “The accident was a lone accident caused by over speeding and fatigue.

“The driver was travelling from Ibadan to Illela, a local government in Sokoto.”

The sector commander further disclosed that six people, all male adults died on the spot.

He also stated that fifteen others had various degree of injury and were conveyed to Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), by the FRSC rescue team.

He advised motorists to stop night journeys as well as overspeeding, saying, a lot of lives are being lost due to recklessness.

CC Kaugama further called on people to check with UDUTH to ascertain the identities of the victims and to know if any of their relatives are involved.
