Nigerian rapper and internet personality Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail nearly a month after his arrest by the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State.
Speed Darlington was reportedly arrested following a petition by Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, who alleged that the rapper had ties to embattled U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The arrest was revealed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who claimed it was carried out on Burna Boy’s directive.
Adeyanju’s statement sparked outrage among Nigerian social media users and influencers, many of whom called for Speed Darlington’s immediate release.
Renowned lawyer Stan Alieke announced the development on his Instagram story, stating, “Akpi has been granted bail by the court.”
