Signs that you’re falling out of love with someone

Published by

Sometimes, people deal with falling out of love with someone they were once head over heels for and can’t pinpoint where it all went wrong.

In this article, I have given myself the duty of examining signs that you might be losing interest in your partner.

1. Lack of enthusiasm

When you see them, it seems like a dull task. You once looked forward to seeing them and spending time with them, but now seeing them seems you have been assigned a tiresome task. If you’re always ignoring their calls or giving reasons why you cannot talk to them, that is a sign that something is wrong.

2. Rigidity

Communication seems forced when talking to people, and using social language, which was once naturally smooth, now seems strained. The level of interest in sharing mundane events during each day or listening to those events may be declining.

3. Hypersensitivity

You get easily irritated, and some aspects you never cared about regarding them begin to irk you easily. Things that you used to find endearing in your partner are now just little irritations.

4. Their absence gives you peace.

It is better when you are not together; you don’t feel the urge to be together; it feels better when you are apart. You even begin to enjoy loneliness, the company of friends or anyone other than your partner. If you find yourself considering the possibility and imagining a life without them, they are toxic to you somehow. Perhaps you are thinking of a time when you will be happier even if you are single.

5. Lack of connection and affection

Specific to physical contact, cuddles, kisses, and touch are different, or perhaps a mere form of it. That connection is gone, and it is no longer like you want to share time with them but rather like you have to.

6. No future

Many couples realize they don’t discuss the future like they used to. When you first met and fell in love with each other, you probably planned a future together. If you don’t see them in the picture of the future you are painting, your heart might be pulling away.

7. Fewer compliments

Criticism takes over praise. Previously, you commented about their appearance or behaviour; now, you only nag them. Love is diminishing if you find yourself being more critical of your partner’s actions than appreciating them. If any of these sounds familiar, it may be time for a chat with yourself about how you feel.
