Significance of Odu’s support for Jimoh Ibrahim as Okunomo sees Ibrahim as candidate not contender

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, PhD Cantab, has boldly declared his intention to contest the gubernatorial seat in Ondo State, demonstrating unwavering conviction in his political pursuits. Known for his proactive approach, Ibrahim has effectively bolstered the popularity of the APC in Ondo State through a dynamic media campaign, garnering support from grassroots political figures and influential stakeholders.

Among the notable endorsements is that of Princess Barr. Catherine Oladunni Odu, a respected political figure in Ondo State with a remarkable track record. Princess Odu, the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, has been a prominent advocate for the 35 percent affirmative action for women in Ondo State and Nigeria. Notably, she has redirected her political machinery, the Iwajowa Group, to support Jimoh Ibrahim’s gubernatorial aspirations, a move that carries significant political weight.

Princess Odu’s endorsement signifies a strategic alignment with the Aseyori political leaning, which has been closely associated with Governor Akeredolu. The fusion of the Iwajowa political structure into the Aseyori strategic think tank is not only a testament to Jimoh Ibrahim’s growing support but also indicates a shift within Akeredolu’s support base towards Ibrahim’s candidacy.

Furthermore, Princess Oladunni Odu, a symbol of women’s active participation in politics, choosing to stand with Jimoh Ibrahim, suggests a broader endorsement from the womenfolk for Ibrahim’s candidacy.

Adding to this growing momentum, Hon. Banji Okunomo, a seasoned politician with a wealth of experience, recently emphasized that Senator Jimoh Ibrahim is not just a contender but the definitive candidate for the APC in the upcoming November Gubernatorial election. Okunomo, known for his measured opinions, highlighted Ibrahim’s distinctive qualities, such as his active engagement with APC activities and his capacity to sustain a robust gubernatorial campaign.

Okunomo’s assessment reflects a deeper understanding of the political landscape, suggesting that Jimoh Ibrahim’s candidacy is not merely aspirational but grounded in tangible actions and capabilities. With two doctoral degrees in War Studies and Business from prestigious Ivy League universities in England, Jimoh Ibrahim is poised to continue attracting support and endorsements from key stakeholders as the state approaches the pivotal party primaries.
