Siasia lauds Wike over plan to reopen vocational training centre

Published by

CHAIRMAN of Nigerian Young Professionals Forum (NYPF), Mr Moses Siloko Siasia, has lauded Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for ordering the reopening of the Port Harcourt Technical and Vocational Training Centre managed by professionals from Germany.

Recall that the NYPF leader had during a visit to the school few weeks ago, appealed to the governor to reopen the school, which had been under lock and key for the past three years.

Siasia, who spoke to newsmen in his Abuja office, urged other state governors and political leaders in the country to emulate the exemplary leadership qualities of Wike, aimed at opening windows of opportunities where young people are engaged constructively.

“We commend Governor Wike for reopening the technical and vocational training centre in Port Harcourt. Governor Wike has actually directed that the school should be reopened on October 15. I want to commend him for his show of exemplary leadership. We went there without any form of political bias.

“We went there to champion the cause of young people, to appeal to him to reopen the school that had been abandoned for over three years ago. On hearing the true situation of the school, Governor Wike called the parties involved and ensured that at the end of the meeting, ordered that the school should be reopened. It is an uncommon show of leadership.

“I am using this opportunity to call on other leaders, most importantly our state governors to emulate the attitude and character of Governor Wike because it is very difficult for you to see leaders, that welcome constructive criticism and are proactive,”

“This is leadership and this is true leadership. It shows that such a leader sees youth growth as a priority for national development. Other governors and leaders should see youth growth as a priority for sustainable development and peace. We commend him and appeal that he keeps to his word that the government will reopen the school,” he said.
