The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has stated that it would, in the coming days, carry out a full-scale inspection on the Chinese Restaurant and Mall, Haufei Restaurant and Mall, shut down over the weekend, for its ‘discriminatory’ policies.
Speaking with Nigerian Tribune, on Sunday, on why the agency decided to shut down the restaurant, located on 33, Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island, Lagos, the agency’s Head of Public Relations, Mr Ondaje Ijagwu stated that the restaurant was shut down for its ‘discriminatory’ policies that forbid staff of the restaurant from attending to Nigerians.
He added that the restaurant, shut on Saturday, would remain under lock and key, until the Commission carried out a full-scale inspection of the facility, to enable it to know its next line of action.

“We decided to shut down the restaurant for its discriminatory policies. What we hope to do in the next few days is to carry out a full-scale inspection of the facility. Doing this, and whatever we discover here would enable us know our next line of action,” he added.
The agency had, on Saturday, announced through its Twitter handle, its decision to shut down the Chinese Restaurant and Mall, over its policy not to extend its services to Nigerians.
The restaurant was said to have come under the agency’s hammer, after it refused to attend to three of its officials, who had walked into the restaurant, separately, on the pretext of patronising it.
