Shun corruption, be diligent, Bauchi gov cautions commissioners, others

State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has cautioned members of the newly constituted State Executive Council against engaging in corrupt practices that may result in denting the image of the PDP led administration.

The Governor according to a press statement by Muktar Mohammed Gidado, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media gave the caution at the inaugural meeting of the Council held at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi on Wednesday.

Bala Mohammed said that the measures became necessary because of his administration’s desire to use the little resources at its disposal to fulfil his campaign promises of restoring the lost glory of the state.

He remarked that, for the present administration to meet the expectations of the citizenry, there was a need for members of the State Executive Council to assist the administration in looking inwards towards reducing over-dependence on the federation account.

The Governor further tasked the Council members to use their wealth of experiences to overcome the challenges affecting critical stakeholders of the state’s economy by being responsible and accountable in the discharge of their assigned responsibilities.

He insisted that he would a sign Performance Indicator with all the members of the council particularly the Commissioners on the activities to be conducted in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The Governor then used the medium to assure the people of the state that his administration would work with relevant stakeholders regardless of their political differences in order to perform better than his predecessor.

It would be recalled that the Governor was sworn in the Commissioners last week Friday after they were screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly, they were later assigned portfolios on Monday.
