Shi’ite members vow to continue protest until El-Zakzaky, wife regain freedom

Shaikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also know as Shi’ite, on Wednesday, disclosed that despite the various health challenges being faced by its members due to water cannon and tear-gas normally used by the police to disperse them during the protests, it would continue its protest until Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife regain their freedom.

Mallam Muhammed Ibrahim, who led some members of the group to the Tribune House in Abuja on a courtesy visit, declared that none of the IMN members was afraid to die during any protest.
According to him, anytime we come out we are expecting Army or Nigerian Police to kill us. We are completely products of struggle, we don’t fear death and that is the only thing the government thinks it will use to disperse us.

“For your information, nobody is sponsoring us. Who will give you money to collect and sacrifice your life? Who is going to spend the money after you are dead? Most of us are sick because of the irresponsible attitude of the Nigerian security because of the tear gas but nothing will deter us. You will be surprised that some of our members come from Mararaba axis and treck back after the protest, so nobody sponsors us.” He emphasized.
He lamented that the current administration is a lawless government who doesn’t have any respect for the rule of law, insisting that the protest would continue unless their leader regains his freedom.
It will be recalled that Sheik El-Zakzaky and his wife have been incarcerated since December 2015.
