She’s a party freak, receives calls from men at odd hours —Man

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos State has saved an 11-year-old marriage threatened by allegations of infidelity.

The court president,  Mr Moses Akinniyi, successfully resolved the differences between Mr Joseph Alimi and Folake Alimi, which centered on infidelity.

The resolution came after many adjournments of the case and counseling of the couple by the court.

While striking out the case, Akinniyi admonished the couple to maintain the peace and live in love.

“Since the court was able to reconcile you, I urge both of you to go home and live in peace and love,” he said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Joseph had sought divorce, claiming that his wife was cheating on him.

“My wife is cheating on me; she receives calls from men at odd hours.

“She abandoned me and our children for one year; she came back and left for another seven months.

“She was always attending parties and staying away for days before returning home,” he had said.

Joseph also alleged that his stepson connived with some others and attacked him with dangerous weapons in a church.

“My stepson, who I trained, came to my church with his gang to beat me up because I beat his mother,” he said.

He prayed the court to terminate their marriage, saying he was no longer in love with his wife.

In her response, Folake told the court that she caught her husband having sex with a girl on their matrimonial bed.

“I came home unannounced and caught my husband making love to a girl; he jumped up when he noticed my presence.

“I also saw him with a woman in a hotel near our house when I went to buy food.

“He begged me not to expose him because of his position in the church and I kept it a secret,” the mother of four said.

The respondent said that her husband was jealous of her and accused her of dating different men.

She, however, prayed the court not to dissolve the union, saying she still loved him.
