Major-General Lucky Irabor
THEATRE Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major-General Lucky Irabor, has debunked rumours about the capture of Shekau, one of the splinter leaders of the Boko Haram insurgents.
Irabor said he was not aware such had happened and was quick to dismiss it as a rumour during a media conference inside the Marmalari Barracks headquarters of the operation, on Wednesday.
Online media had reported that the kingpin of the Boko Haram insurgents had been captured and dragged to Niger Republic.
However, Major-General Irabor said it was a rumour, while promising that the naval sector of the theatre would soon resume full activities which would give full protection to the fishermen who had resumed economic activities on Lake Chad.
The theatre commander regretted that the army lost one soldier to the insurgents who died in the process of freeing the fishermen.
