Lukman alleged that his wife was troublesome, wayward and violent. He added that she had given him ne rest of mind since they got married two years ago.
According to him, he came to court for divorce so that he could put his life together again.
“My lord, I’ve known no peace since I got married to my wife two years ago, “Lukman stated.
“I’m married to a troublesome wife who not only fights me but everyone in the neighbourhood. Our neighbours and people in the neighbourhood avoid her like a plague because she’s not a friendly person.
“She finds fault in all that I do and never seems satisfied even if you offer her your head.
“My wife has stopped caring for me a long time ago. She hardly cooks for me despite giving her feeding allowance on regular basis and doesn’t care about my general wellbeing. She also leaves the house dirty and in an untidy state thus leaving the whole place turned upside down.
“I have often complained about her dirty nature but rather than change has become worse. She always fought me any time I call her attention to her dirty behaviour, “he added.
“My lord, despite all I do to make my wife comfortable, she still engages in extra marital affairs. I have been told of her escapades while she never ceases to chat with her lovers on phone late in the night. There were times she receives their calls in the toilet while the text messages she exchanges with them say it all. Any time I demand for an explanation she will walk out on me.
“She also has no regards for my parents. They had tried to mediate in our differences on few occasions but she ended up been rude to them.
“My lord, she has now become so daring that she mow threatens to stab me with knife any time we have a disagreement. If I don’t part ways with her she will one day make her threat real, “he said.
“My lord, he’s lying and trying to blackmail me. His plan is to get rid of me and marry a new wife, “Olubukola told the court.
“I’m a peace loving person and have tried to live in peace with him and our neighbours. I also go out of my way to make his parents comfortable anytime they are around.
“My lord, I pray that I’m granted custody of our only child if he’s insisting on divorce. He doesn’t have time for him and has never bothered about his welfare. He’s my only gain in this rocky marriage, “she said.
Giving his judgment after listening to the plaintiff, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunola stated that it was expedient that their marriage be dissolved since it involved the display of violence.
He added that the absence of the defendant in court on the three different occasions she was served a court hearing showed she was no more interested in their marriage.
Ruling, Odunade dissolved their marriage and granted custody of their only child to the defendant.
According to the court, the plaintiff was to give the defendant the sum of N4, 000 monthly as their child’s feeding allowance and be responsible for his general wellbeing and education.
He was also asked to give the defendant another N3,000 to pack her belongings from his house.
