It was a time of gratitude to God recently when Sharon Rose Schools and Colleges, Saki, Oyo State, marked, 21 years of existence of the institution and the great feats achieved thus far.
The guest lecturer, Mr Adebare Egunjobi of EIN Educational Services in Africa, a specialist on International Training and Exposure Conference for School administrators in Africa, spoke on the topic “Raising godly leaders for global impacts.” He said that in order to raise leaders who will make positive impact on the national and international scene, there was need to take a look at where the society was coming from like the era of chalk board to marker board, and must be ready to move with the modern and global trend. He also stated the need for stakeholders in education to note where society is going, readiness of everyone to get exposed to the moving trend in the global world, particularly in the area of competition, which he said was happy that Sharon Rose in a bid to get their students ready for international competitions, will be sending some of their students outside the country next month.
Egunjobi charged all stakeholders in the institution including parents, teachers and students to cooperate with the management of the school which is ready to join the league of schools that are raising leaders for global impact in the 21st century. He promised to contribute his quota by partnering with school saying “instructional materials must change; exposure of students, teachers in and out of the country is of importance, partnering with foreign investors are key if we want to raise leaders for global impact. However, environment is not a limitation to having impact; If we want to be, we will not only be the best, we will be among the best.”
The principal of the school, Mrs Teniola Oluwasola, was grateful to God for being faithful to the vision He gave her and her husband since September 14, 1998 which started with 16 pupils. “We have been growing in leaps and bounds in the last 21 years as the Lord has helped us to record various degrees of success in both national and international competitions.
Few of the achievements are: School in Oke Ogun to register for NECO JSCE in 2001; the only representative of Oyo State at the Mathematics Olympiad organised by National Mathematics Centre in Abuja, 2006; in 2014, three of our students won an Oke Ogun United States (US) based scholarship programme tagged The Tolani Ogunrinde Award; in 2018, the school was chosen as a WAEC Special Centre for private WASCE; among others.”
Oluwasola expressed appreciation to the proprietor, Deacon Samuel Oluwasola, the pioneer staff members on whose intelligence and labour the school began its journey to the point it is today; the school’s advisory board for its support and wise counsel which have been valuable.
Some of the events that marked the anniversary were a lecture, presentation of awards and gifts; cutting of the anniversary cake; cultural and orchestra groups display and sales of products made by the students of the school.
