SGF, NIA suspension: Dig more, flush them out of your govt, AD advices Buhari

AS reaction continues to trail the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir Lawal and Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Alliance for Democracy (AD), on
Thursday, advised the president to dig more and flush out bad eggs within his government whose their political ideologies were quite different from his own.

The party National Chairman, Mr Joseph Avazi in a press statement in Abuja, a copy of which was made available to the Tribune Online, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Buhari should not make its fight against corruption a selective one by excluding members of his party, saying it should be a total war against corruption, irrespective of political or tribal inclinations.

“We in the Alliance for Democracy (AD), therefore, call on President Buhari to further deal with many other corrupt individuals in his government just like he suspended the SGF, Babachir Lawal and D-G, NIA, Ayodele Oke. This will further enable Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to believe that truly he is fighting corruption”, he urged.‎

While describing the president’s decision as a welcomed development, the chairman then urged the Federal Government to use the recovered loot to improve the standard of living of Nigerians, lamenting that many Nigerians could not afford two meals a day not to talk of three, hence, the reason the government must act fast to combat the suffering of the masses.

“It is not easy to fight corruption in a decayed society like Nigeria but President Buhari needs not to cover any member of his cabinet, whose his or her political ideology is different from that of the president.

“Going by the suffering in Nigeria, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) urges the Federal Government to use the recovered loot judiciously.
After the completion of the investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the money can be used to combat the hunger and other challenges facing the country at the moment.

“This N13billion recovered in a flat in Ikoyi, Lagos State can put smiles on the faces of thousands Nigerians, if properly and prudently managed”, Avazi added.
