Sex worker stabs 48-year-old man to death in Lagos

A 48-year-old man, simply identified as Okafor, was stabbed to death early Monday morning by a sex worker in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The suspect, identified as Joy Kelvin, has been arrested by operatives of the Ilasan Divisional Police Station.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the *Nigerian Tribune*, stating that Okafor died at the hospital where he was rushed for treatment after the stabbing.

According to the Tribune Online, the altercation occurred a day after the deceased had taken Joy to his home. A disagreement ensued between them, leading to the fatal stabbing.

It was gathered that Okafor had taken the suspect to his house at Jakande Estate, Lekki, the previous evening after negotiating her fee.

Hundeyin explained, “Today, being 07/10/2024 at about 07:20 hours, a complainant reported at Ilasan Division that on the same day at about 05:32 hours, he received a call from one of his friends, informing him that Okafor, who was also his friend, had been stabbed at his house in Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, by one Joy Kelvin, a prostitute he brought to his house overnight.”

He further stated that the victim was rushed to General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

“The scene was promptly visited by detectives of the division,” Hundeyin added. “Photographs have been taken, and the corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Yaba for preservation and autopsy.”

The police spokesperson also confirmed that the suspect has been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to locate the family members of the deceased. Investigation into the case is ongoing.
