Senator Yar’adua launches free medical care in Katsina

Published by

Senator AbdulAziz Musa Yar’adua of Katsina Central has sponsored a free medical outreach for his constituents suffering from eye ailments, hernia, and other diseases.

The programme is being conducted at the premises of the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of the General Hospital, Katsina, in collaboration with the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN).

Patients benefiting from the programme were screened by the respective coordinators of the 11 local government areas within the senatorial district.

The free medical outreach commenced with patients from Katsina, Kaita, Jibia, and Batsari Local Government Areas.

At the official launch of the programme, the Katsina Local Government Coordinator to the Senator, Alhaji Sani Bambale, stated that the first four LGAs were allocated 100 slots — 80 for Katsina LGA and 40 each for the other three LGAs.

Bambale explained that the initiation of such programmes was only the beginning, as the Senator plans to introduce more viable opportunities to improve the lives of his constituents.

On his part, the leader of the medical team, Dr Ibrahim Salisu from the Katsina State Chapter of IMAN, said the programme had witnessed a successful kickoff and commended patients for conducting themselves peacefully.

Dr Salisu noted that IMAN was fortunate to partner with the Senator in conducting the free medical outreach, especially given his position as the brother of the late President Umaru Yar’adua, who remains cherished by well-meaning Nigerians.

He added that the outreach was well-timed and that beneficiaries would appreciate the gesture, especially considering the current economic situation.

Dr Salisu, therefore, thanked the Senator for initiating the programme and urged beneficiaries to pray for the Senator and for peaceful coexistence in the state and the country.

An ally of the Senator, Alhaji Tanimu Garba Gwarjo, expressed appreciation and optimism, noting that the gesture stemmed from the Senator’s sympathetic nature, describing him as someone deeply concerned about supporting those in need.

Gwarjo emphasised the need for beneficiaries and others to intensify prayers for Allah SWT to shower His mercy on the Senator, the people of Katsina Central, the state, and the entire nation, and to bring lasting peace and stability.

Beyond the first four local government areas that benefitted from the programme, Alhaji Tanimu Gwarjo also announced that the second phase of the outreach will cover Rimi, Charanchi, and Batagarawa LGAs, with Rimi as the designated centre for the programme.

Similarly, he added, “Dutsinma, Kurfi, Danmusa, and Safana Local Government Areas will meet at Dutsinma for the continuation of the free medical outreach.”

Tribune correspondent in Katsina gathered that thousands of people are currently suffering from eye deficiencies, with one patient attributing his condition to high blood pressure and illnesses like diabetes.

On behalf of other beneficiaries, Dr AbddlRashid Ibrahim Darma and Jamila Ado Kankia thanked the Senator and pledged their full support for the quality representation he continues to provide.
